Shark attacks male swimmer on Isle of Palms coast

From our News Partners at WCBD-TV:

Around noon, the Fire Department responded to a report of shark bite on the Isle of Palms. According to Fire Chief Anne Graham, a man said he saw a shark or two swimming near him before the bite. Chief Graham said the man had a 3 to 4 inch bite on his foot.  She said the man was treated on the scene and then taken to the hospital.

There is no word on the man's identity or condition at this time. Officials said they did not see the shark after the bite.

Graham said that shark bites are rare on the Isle of Palms, with only four or five reports of bites in the last five years.
