Lowcountry donations to help the homeless in

From our News Partners at WCBD-TV:

Earlier this week, we told you about a hidden homeless community in the woods near downtown Charleston.

Thursday night, the Lowcountry answered the call to help the homeless in a major way.

News 2, with the help of Rep. Wendell Gilliard, held a "Hope for the Homeless" donation drive at Hibben United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant.

Folks drove in from all over, as far out as Edisto, Awendaw, Summerville, Goose Creek and Moncks Corner.  There were even more from closer Mount Pleasant, West Ashley and Downtown Charleston. Everyone rolled up their sleeves to lend a helping hand.

We filled an entire school bus with no room to spare. Items will go to feed, clothe and shelter the homeless.

Thank you for your generosity.
