International flight makes emergency landing at Joint Base Charleston

International flight makes emergency landing at Joint Base Charleston

From our News Partners at WCBD-TV:

An international flight out of New York's JFK Airport made an emergency landing at Joint Base Charleston early Tuesday morning.

Officials with Charleston International Airport confirm that a woman on the flight was having difficulty breathing and that the Airbus A330 made the emergency landing so that she could receive medical treatment.

The flight stopped at Joint Base and not Charleston International because ground crews were not at the airport at that hour, according to officials. They say the in flight emergency, or IFE, happened around 3 am and ground crews do not come in to work until 4 am.

Joint Base personnel met the flight with medical equipment and ready to assist the passenger. Charleston International officials say the woman refused treatment and to be transported to the hospital.

Joint Base Charleston confirms the passenger restabilized and the flight is back on route.
