Driver fired after not reporting possible weapons on school bus

From our News Partners at WCBD-TV:

A spokesperson for Dorchester District Two says a bus driver has been fired after not reporting a possible weapon on her bus.

The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office says a knife and gun were confiscated at Beech Hill Elementary School Wednesday after two students brought the weapons on the school bus in their book bags.

A spokesperson for Beech Hill says a student reported the weapons to the school when the bus arrived, and the two 5th grade students were brought into the office before school started.

Both students were removed from campus.

The school district says Dorchester County Sheriff's Office investigation showed that the bus driver had received information on Tuesday about the possibility of a student having a knife on the bus.  The driver, an employee of Dorchester District Two, was cited for failure to report a safety issue which was provided by a student.

Dorchester District Two says the driver has been fired.
