Charleston digital corridor expanding

A public-private partnership in Charleston is expanding to help startup technology companies.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports the Charleston Digital Corridor will open new incubators to provide low-cost support for new companies. The corridor opened its first business incubator in 2009 and opened  in 2011.

Two more are being planned.

Plans call for a new four-story, 40,000 square foot facility. There are also plans for a second new 60,000-square-foot building next to it. The city council approved the purchase of the land this week.

The incubators are designed to grow high-paying tech jobs. IN the past 12 years, the corridor has worked with more than 50 companies, which have created more than 200 jobs
